About Us
Johnston Inventory Services Ltd was formed in 1989 by Don Johnston.
Don has been helping public and private sector organisations to improve inventory management for most of the time since 1976, working alongside supply managers.
He has a Master of Philosophy degree in operations research (which includes inventory management), a Bachelor of Science degree and a Diploma in Teaching. In addition to his academic qualifications, he has studied inventory management extensively. Consequently, he has a thorough knowledge of both the practical and theoretical aspects of the subject.
He has developed a number of inventory management and demand forecasting techniques while at university, while working as a scientist for the former New Zealand Government Stores Board and while managing Johnston Inventory Services Ltd. His recent work has included the development of techniques which can be implemented easily while still being highly effective. Also, he has worked as an information technology consultant for the New Zealand State Services Commission. He developed a system for analysing the performance of existing inventory systems and simulating the effects of improvements to those systems and of changes to supply strategy
He has carried out work in relation to inventory management improvement for over thirty organisations.
He publishes a blog about inventory management (www.inventoryadvice.com)..
